Chapter 1: Introduction
Welcome to Auto-Installer Deluxe 2, the most complete and flexible installer there is for the Xbox console. This includes nearly all the features from the first release of it, plus of course some new ones (Check Chapter 2 for more information).
This installer has over 60 different emulators, applications, and dashboards all in one easy-to-use menu. It has the option of installing all the applications and emulators bundled on the disc, or individually if you prefer. You can even install dashboards as normal applications if you want to experiment with a particular dashboard or simply you want it installed but not as your main dashboard.
There are also features like Phoenix BIOS Loader, which will allow you to enable a dual-boot system on your Xbox. You can either have it load different partitions and/or have a Debug BFM BIOS used so you can develop. Another great program included is XSelect, which will let you boot any program on startup of your Xbox, simply by pressing a button on startup when you see the XSelect message.
The softmodding side of Auto-Installer Deluxe has grown tremendously from version 1 to version 2. Version 2 has been radically advanced in order to work directly with Softmodded Xboxes; it will even Softmod and set up the MS Dashboard in a few easy clicks. You also have the choice of Phoenix BIOS Loader (PBL) or Nkpatcher. Nkpatcher is the latest Softmod patch and is highly recommended. Used with Softmod Installer Deluxe v3.0 (Lite version is all that is needed to boot this) it is the ultimate Softmod tool.
Another interesting feature is the ISO Updater tool which accompanies this package. Now it is easy to keep your Auto-Installer Deluxe fresh and up-to-date by using this program to update your ISO file. It will also create a new ISO file with all the updates, so all you have to do now is burn it.
One note for users with modchips, you will have to make sure that your modchip is flashed with the correct BIOS before you boot this. You will find included the Xbox-Hq BIOS CD Pack 2.01 which contains various BIOS CDs you can burn and use to flash your chip. Please remember to use a v1.6 BIOS if you have a v1.6 Xbox, because if you don’t you could damage your chip.
