Chapter 4: Preparing your Xbox to use AID 2.0
Flashing the BIOS on your Modchip
This should be done prior to using the AID software, as the software will not do it for you.
Since there are various ways on setting up Modchips with BIOSes, I’ve decided not to go into much detail about this, mainly for the fact I don’t want to be held responsible for people incorrectly flashing their Modchip.
However, I have included an array of various BIOSes and BIOS Boot CDs which are included with the Auto-Installer Deluxe v2.0 package, and a PDF of the FlashBIOS 3.03 Instructions taken from www.teamxecuter.com. The FlashBIOS system is used mainly on Xecuter2, Xecuter3, and some of the cheaper Modchips.
Using a Softmod
Using the Softmod Installer Deluxe v3.0 system, you can mod your Xbox without having to buy a modchip, or open your Xbox.
Here are the steps required for loading a Softmod onto your Xbox. Further documentation can be found with the SID 3.0 package, this is practically an updated guide on how to use it efficiently and flawlessly alongside Auto-Installer Deluxe v2.0.
Copy the SID 3.0 exploit of your choice (remember to have 2 files for splinter cell, the part1 file and the part2 for your specific region) to either a USB storage device (like a Mega X-Key), or to an Action Replay, or Gameshark. Remember Gameshark users MUST use the specific Gameshark version I’ve made of this.
Boot the original game in your Xbox.
Click on the "Install Softmod" option. This clears your C Drive of ALL files and copies over the files needed for the Softmod. Why does it delete everything you ask? It’s because the Softmod that I’m using is based on the latest MS 5960 Dashboard, which comes with the Auto-Installer Deluxe package.
Once you have done this, you can turn off your Xbox and restart it with the Auto-Installer Deluxe disc inserted. The disc will restore your MS Dash so there’s no need to panic.
If you wish to Softmod your Xbox and have a larger Hard Drive installed, please check the Appendix G for instructions.
